Anything entertaining to learn Chinese is good. In particular here, recognizing tons is essential. This application does a good job at teaching you!

I really enjoy practicing tones with this app. All your errors are listed. So you can really focus on your errors. 3 modes : single word, 2 words in a row, and difficult consonants huts like g/k or sh/zh/ch...
Just started to learn Chinese, I find this app very useful to train the gear to Chinese sounds. Would like to have similar App for speaking!
Great App which helps me for better listening of the tones in the Chinese language. Easy to use and helps to improve.
Finally something fun to review the tones and train your ear! Easy and fun to use, actually improves your listening skills really fast!
Like the simple approach but no sound after running through the trial.
I have been using this app for about 2 years and it is absolutely essential for properly learning the correct pronunciation and 5 different tones used in speaking and understanding Chinese. A few weeks of this will improve your ability not only to hear and understand mandarin but also your ability to speak and be understood. Even after 2 years of Chinese school I still use this all the time for drilling myself on tonal practice.
This is a great app that is very helpful.
Sound is poor really poor quality. I have worked with other apps to learn Chinese tones, which are super excellent, but this one is simply baaaaddddd! Improve it. Anyway, the only good thing that this app has is the guide, which summarizes very well all the grammar rules.
It does what I need it to do. Ive never used anything better for practicing Mandarin Chinese tones and sounds - Bravo!
This App is excellent! I like the fact that if you choose the incorrect tones, it lists the correct ones! Also I love all the Trainchinese Apps and so much so that I actually upgraded from the free version $$ and I rarely do that! All the trainchinese Apps are designed to work in conjunction with each other and I have all of them!
Its good app for train Tradition Chinese tone.
I find it very helpful, it is what I was looking for
This app is good just until it stop to work and ask for your money. Before it youll get about 10 syllables. And theres ads in app. Real sediment
Thanks, it works correct, no complains. Really helpful for those who is learning Chinese
Great app, audio is a bit pitchy but it is probably my phone thats the problem. Good selection of sound varieties to help you dial in on the right tones.
This is a pretty nice little app. I have a bit of an issue with catching tones. This is good for helping to more readily distinguish the tones. Only bad side is the speaker is not always clear on saying words and pronouncing tones, and IMHO sometimes wrong. Overall very good.
Low quality audio and as the other review stated some totally wrong audio plus a severe limitation on this trial version make it something I wont buy. That being said the layout and concept is excellent so w any luck there will be a much improved version in the near future
The software stops working after a few sample questions then suggests that the user upgrade. This renders it completely useless. You cant even go back and review the sample questions. This is not the way to sell an upgrade. At least give us a working trial version so we can learn a beginning lesson or two. After that we can upgrade to a fully functional version to get more advanced lessons. Almost every other language learning app on iTunes has a working trial that you can use until you are ready for the next level. This is the only one Ive seen where it becomes completely useless. Awful and shameful.
Great app. Worth the upgrade. If youre having problems catching the pinyin in class, these drills will help immensely. If you cant hear the tone properly, your intonation might be off. Mine sure was. The only reason why I didnt give this 5 stars was because I would like see it more customizable to test my selection of initial sounds against other initial sounds and having the ability to test myself on the ones I frequently miss. Yes, one can review the list of past word, correct or wrong so why cant those wrong words be retested? I must say that how the app groups like sounding initial words is incredible.
